ORLAN verändert ständig und radikal die Daten, die Konventionen und das „Ready-made-Denken“ aufbrechen. Sie widersetzt sich dem natürlichen Determinismus, sozialen und politischen Determinismus und allen Formen der Herrschaft, der männlichen Vorherrschaft, der Religion, der kulturellen Segregation und dem Rassismus usw. Ihre provokativen Kunstwerke, die immer mit Humor, oft mit Parodie oder sogar Groteskem gemischt sind und können schockieren, indem sie die Codes aufrüttelt.
ORLAN was born 1974 in Saint-Étienne, France. She lives and works between Paris, Los Angeles and New York. ORLAN is one of the most famous french artist internationally known. She creates sculptures, photographs, performances, videos, and videogames, augmented reality and uses scientific and medical technics like surgery and biogenetic. ORLAN changes constantly and radically the datas, which disrupt conventions, and “ready-made thinking”. She is opposed to the natural determinism, social and politic and to all domination forms, male supremacy, religion, cultural segregation and racism, etc. Always mixed with humor, often parody or even grotesque, her provocative artworks can shock because she shakes up the pre-established codes.
